“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds”. This statement provides us with a deep insight into the subject of dispensation. It told us of a time when God the father spoke to the Hebrews, and a time when the son spoke to them. The question for our time now is who speaks to us? Who do we relate with? Who is in charge at this time? Or have we been left orphan, without a God and a hope in this world? That question was summarily answered before even it was thought of, Jesus when the time for his departure drew near told his disciples about a Spirit, the Spirit of truth, who would be a helper unto them. “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” Jhn 14:16-17
Jesus was here answering the questions men of all ages will want to ask, he was proffering heaven’s solution to man’s impending trouble, he was revealing to them the last piece of the puzzle in the kingdom’s redemption plan. The Holy Spirit is the person with the baton for the last leg of this age-long game; he was introducing to them the caretaker, the zeal, and the guarantee for everyone who will believe on his name. Now, it is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit; ‘now the Spirit speaketh expressly’, we are in a season where the God head has delegated all right to the Holy Spirit. In the light of this believers must do all they can to acquire knowledge of the Holy Spirit and how it operates, for this is the life that is expected of us to live, a life in the spirit; ‘If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.’ Gal 5:25.
Today, due to lack of information about the Holy Spirit and how He operates, many churches and believers alike unconsciously resist, quench and grieve Him. Though unintentionally, they stand in the way and prevent Him from being able to fully express Himself, for the benefit of all. We are in season where the church is bereft of power, grace and oil; we are in a time when the life of a believer is no different from an unbeliever, we can say like Paul of old that we are Christians yet we are carnal (1 Cor 3). This is due to an improper walk in the spirit, we have not yet come into full understanding of the Holy Spirit, and we have not totally yielded ourselves to him.
